In 2017, a $50,000 gift was given to the Champaign County Library in memory of Karen Kerns Dresser to establish a Makerspace. The Makerspace, called the Imagine Lab, offers the public access to a wide variety of technology and do-it-yourself equipment. This included 3D printers, heat press, wide format printer, sewing equipment, along with small coding robots, hands-on technology kits, and media conversion equipment. By helping the public learn and practice new skills, the lab supports the mission to encourage lifelong learning and community interaction.
Lab Hours: Monday-Thursday 10-7, Friday 10-4, Saturday 12-4
A link to the Imagine Lab Policy is located at the bottom of this page.
The Lab is open to anyone with a valid Champaign County Library Card. Those under the age of 13 must have a parent with them while using the Lab. Anyone using equipment must have a signed waiver on file. You will be responsible to learn how to use the equipment and develop any designs you wish to use for your projects. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist as time allows. For prices and supplies needed to use the Lab, please check the above information on the particular piece of equipment you would like to use.
