July 2025 There’s still time to join in the fun with the 2025 Summer Reading Program! Kids: Swing by the library to register and collect your reading journal. You can also join online via Beanstack. The deadline for kids to submit their entries for the Grand Prize Drawing is July 31st. When they submit their entry (starting Monday, July 7th), they can choose a free book and a surprise! The Champaign County Library hosts a summer reading program each year to help counteract the “summer slide” and foster a love for reading among children. However, summer reading isn’t limited to just kids, nor is it exclusively about books! Children, from birth to 12th grade, can register at either library. Each child will receive their own booklet filled with activities, book trackers, and more. Be sure to check the back page of the newsletter for a list of July programs. *Adults:** You can also participate in the year-long reading club, "Reading Colors Your World." Entries are available at both library locations, or you can take part through Beanstack. By reading, you could win a $100 Kroger Card! The Champaign County Library is partnering with WYSO and StoryCorps to promote the One Small Step project and bring our community together, one conversation at a time. Conversations are hosted by a trained staff facilitator, and although they’re recorded, there’s no obligation for participants to share the recording (or even use their name). There will be lots of ways to get involved. WYSO officially/publicly launched the One Small Step program on May 13th, and is hosting conversations through the end of the year. People can sign up by visiting the WYSO website, and filling out a short questionnaire about themselves and why they want to participate. WYSO will be reviewing these “applications” and matching people together all year. The library will be closed on Friday, July 4th. www.wyso.org/onesmallstep
